Nothing OS 5.0 with Android 17 rolls out to Phone (4a) and (3a) series
The stable update reaches the Phone (4a), (4a) Pro, (3a) and (3a) Pro in stages, with the Phone (2a) line set for mid-November.
Nothing has begun rolling out the stable Nothing OS 5.0 update, built on Android 17, to the Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, according to gsmarena.com. The rollout is staggered, so the update will not land on all devices at the same time.
Users can pull the update manually through Settings > System > System update. Nothing warns that phones may draw more power and feel warmer during installation, with performance returning to normal afterwards.
What the update adds
Shared new features include a dedicated Glyph app, a split between Quick Settings and the notification panel, bulk arranging of home screen icons, and a three-color status bar indicator for sensitive access, location and AI processing. Nothing also adds a Translucent launcher theme, two new lock screen clock faces, custom clock face colors, the Geist typeface and a refreshed Settings interface.
All four phones gain the Collector and Away Time widgets, a Glyph Timer widget, an Expanded Dark theme, adjustable Enhanced HDR brightness, Noto 3D Emoji in Gboard, refined Live Updates and single-tap Bluetooth connection in Quick Settings.
The Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro pick up a new Tuning feature with seven adjustable effects, upgraded Presets with a 2x2 widget, Filters and Tuning for video, and Dual-view Video. The Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro get Dual-view Video and faster Essential Voice transcriptions. All four devices receive a refreshed Camera UI with improved recording, zoom, close-up shooting and QR scanning.
Earlier in October 2026, Nothing began the same stable Nothing OS 5.0 rollout for the Phone (3). The Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus are scheduled next for mid-November, followed by the Phone (3a) Lite in late December and the Phone (4b) and CMF Phone 2 Pro in mid-January.
