OBS Studio 33.0.0 Upgrades CEF to 150 and Reworks Plugins

The update also enables NVENC hardware encoding in the Arm64 build and drops support for Ubuntu 24.04, according to forest.watch.impress.co.jp.

OBS Studio v33.0.0 was released on October 24, 2026, bringing the bundled Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) from version 127 to version 150, according to forest.watch.impress.co.jp. The OBS Project also reworked how plugins are loaded, consolidating bundled plugins into a new "core" folder.

The update adds NVENC hardware-accelerated encoding to the Arm64 build on supported NVIDIA GPUs, including NVIDIA RTX Spark. Preview snapping was also revised: sources can now snap to others that are not directly adjacent, snapping gains visual indicators, and hidden sources are no longer snapped to.

Spin boxes accept multi-step changes when the user holds Shift and presses the up or down keys. Support for Ubuntu 24.04 has been discontinued in this version.

Plugin changes ahead of version 34.0

Legacy-format plugins located under the Windows Program Files directory will stop loading starting with OBS Studio 34.0. CEF 127 had been in use in OBS since July 2024, when that version was released; CEF 150 arrived in September 2026. OBS Studio 32.0 was the previous major update before version 33.0.
