Saltware secures patent for Sapie-Guardian AI data-leak detection

The Korean security firm also won a supply contract with financial companies for the tool, which inspects prompts and documents before they reach services such as ChatGPT and Claude.

Saltware has obtained a patent for a sensitive-information detection system and method used in its AI security solution Sapie-Guardian, the company said on October 26, 2026. The company also won a supply contract targeting financial companies, according to dailysecu.com.

The patented technology relays communication between a user's computer and external generative AI servers, then detects and controls sensitive information through context analysis based on a language model.

Sapie-Guardian inspects prompts and attached documents before they are sent to generative AI services such as ChatGPT and Claude. Non-sensitive information is allowed through, while personal data or corporate secrets are blocked, masked or substituted according to policy.

Detection combines rule-based methods for structured data such as resident registration numbers and account numbers with AI-based context analysis for internal information. The solution also supports detection and masking of sensitive information in Hangul, Word, Excel and PDF documents.

The company said the solution addresses leak risks through AI development tools including Claude Code, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI. Saltware plans to expand beyond the financial sector into manufacturing and public-sector customers.
