Samsung adds staged AI sleep apnea reports to Galaxy Watch, Ring

The upgraded detection sorts results into mild, occasional and frequent stages and arrives in Korea in November 2026, starting with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, Watch 9 and Galaxy Ring.

Samsung has announced an upgraded sleep apnea detection feature for its Galaxy wearables that uses a new AI algorithm to produce more detailed sleep reports, according to ZDNet. The feature launches in Korea in November 2026.

The results are sorted into three stages: mild, occasional and frequent. Users must record two nights of sleep within a 10-day period to receive details about their condition.

The upgraded detection will first come to the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Ring. Samsung says a future software update will bring advanced sleep apnea detection to the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 8.

The feature is FDA-cleared. Samsung has not confirmed a date for its arrival on its watches and smart rings in the US.

Sleep tracking has been part of Samsung's Galaxy Watch lineup for a few years, and the new algorithm builds on that existing tool rather than introducing sleep monitoring to the devices for the first time.
