Samsung Display, LG Display post Q3 2026 results as OLED race widens

Samsung Display and LG Display announced their Q3 2026 earnings results on October 29, 2026, reporting contrasting profit trajectories for the July–September quarter, according to techm.kr.

Samsung Display posted revenue of 8 trillion won and operating profit of 1.1 trillion won. Revenue rose 7% quarter-on-quarter but fell 1% year-on-year, while operating profit climbed 57% from the previous quarter and 8% from a year earlier. The company's capital expenditure for the year stands at 3 trillion won.

LG Display reported revenue of 6.277 trillion won and operating profit of 250.6 billion won. Its revenue grew 12% quarter-on-quarter but dropped 10% year-on-year. Operating profit turned positive compared with the prior quarter but shrank 42% year-on-year. Its annual capex is in the low 2 trillion won range.

Foldables and new lines

Samsung Display exclusively supplies the OLED panels for Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo. The company is also ramping up its 8.6th-generation IT OLED line and plans to expand supply into gaming devices and automotive markets.

LG Display said it will restore competitiveness in IT LCD through portfolio upgrades and fab efficiency improvements. Earlier, on October 22, 2026, the company held its Q3 2026 earnings announcement and conference call. It has also surpassed 50 million cumulative WOLED units sold, 13 years after starting the business.
