SoftBank restores quake and tsunami alerts in Emergency Alert Mail
Earthquake early warnings and tsunami warnings are flowing again, but government disaster and evacuation messages remain paused until October 26.
SoftBank resumed delivery of Japan Meteorological Agency earthquake early warnings and tsunami warnings through its Emergency Alert Mail on October 25, 2026, at 9:25, the company said. The restart follows the partial completion of maintenance work.
Delivery of disaster and evacuation information from national and local governments remains suspended for now. The carrier said the overall maintenance is scheduled to be completed on Monday, October 26.
Until then, SoftBank is urging users to rely on apps such as Yahoo! Bousai Sokuhou and other alternative services to receive alerts. The affected brands include Y!mobile and LINEMO.
According to k-tai.watch.impress.co.jp, the carrier had suspended Emergency Alert Mail delivery from 6:47 a.m. on October 23, 2026, for maintenance related to addressing a PHP vulnerability.
