Solidigm in talks with US Commerce on $45 billion NAND plant
Bloomberg reports Solidigm told the Commerce Department long-term investment could approach $100 billion, with New York State among candidate sites.
Solidigm is in talks with the US Department of Commerce about building a NAND flash plant in the United States worth about 45 billion dollars, Bloomberg reported on October 27, 2026. The company is SK hynix's US subsidiary.
According to Bloomberg, Solidigm told the Commerce Department that total long-term investment could reach close to 100 billion dollars. New York State and other locations are under consideration as candidate sites, and construction could begin as early as next year.
The company is also seeking US government permission to bring semiconductor equipment into its Dalian plant in China before making a final decision on the US plant, Bloomberg reported. Solidigm acquired the Dalian facility as part of SK hynix's purchase of Intel's NAND business.
Solidigm declined to comment to Bloomberg on the talks with the US government, saying it is reviewing NAND plant construction at various potential locations worldwide and that no specific plan has been decided.
Earlier China export changes
In August last year, the US Department of Commerce revoked the Validated End-User (VEU) status applied to Samsung Electronics' and SK hynix's China plants and switched equipment imports to an annual approval system. Separately, on the 23rd, SK hynix said it was halting its review of a pre-IPO and IPO for Solidigm, citing capital market conditions and semiconductor stock trends.
