STMicroelectronics launches ST MatterConnect for Matter certification

ST MatterConnect injects Matter attestation credentials into the ST25DA-C NFC tag and STSAFE-A120 secure element, STMicroelectronics says, cutting customer complexity.

STMicroelectronics has launched ST MatterConnect, a turnkey service that simplifies certification of Matter smart home devices by storing attestation credentials in the ST25DA-C NFC tag and the STSAFE-A120 secure element, according to zdnet.co.kr.

The company generates the credentials in-house using its own security infrastructure and injects them into the chips. The stored data covers Matter device certificates, cryptographic keys, product and version information, and customer-specific details.

Both the ST25DA-C and STSAFE-A120 support Matter device attestation and can hold sensitive data such as security keys. The ST25DA-C is designed for NFC-based commissioning of Matter devices, while the STSAFE-A120 connects to a device host over an I2C interface and provides IoT security services including secure connections and integrity verification.

STMicroelectronics said ST MatterConnect lets users connect devices from different ecosystems — among them smart bulbs, smart plugs, smoke detectors, security cameras and occupancy sensors — without a dedicated hub.

Sylvain Fidelis, Multimarket Business Line Manager at STMicroelectronics, said ST MatterConnect reduces customers' operating costs and complexity and shortens time to market for new products.

Recent product activity

The launch follows a run of announcements from the chipmaker: on October 14, 2026 it released power modules for air conditioners, heat pumps and appliances with a 30% size reduction, and on October 15, 2026 it released an altitude and depth sensor for wearables. On October 21, 2026, president Jean-Marc Chery accepted a proposal for reappointment, and on October 23, 2026 the company released a QML-V certified quad LVDS receiver.
