Global tablet shipments fall 23% in Q3 as Omdia sees no recovery before 2028
Apple's iPad shipments dropped 27.5% to 11.58 million units, while Lenovo was the only top-five vendor to grow, according to Omdia.
Global tablet shipments fell 23.0% year on year in the third quarter of 2026 to 32.19 million units, the lowest level in nearly three years, according to market research firm Omdia.
Apple's iPad shipments dropped 27.5% year on year to 11.58 million units, and its shipment share slipped from 38.2% to 36.0%. Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Tab shipments fell 21.7% from 6.93 million to 5.43 million units, while its share edged up from 16.6% to 16.9%.
Lenovo was the only vendor among the top five to grow, with shipments up 11.9% year on year to 4.09 million units and its share rising from 8.7% to 12.7%.
Omdia said the Galaxy Tab S12 series, the OLED iPad mini and Xiaomi's Pad 9 series launched in the second half of 2026 but had little effect on consumer demand. Huawei, Honor, OnePlus and Realme also released new products in the same period.
The decline follows a 9.9% year-on-year fall in global tablet shipments in the second quarter, Omdia said. The firm forecast that a meaningful recovery in the tablet market is unlikely before 2028.
