Tempo Signs Deel as First Customer of Zones Privacy System

Deel's payroll platform will use Tempo's Zones to keep contractor payments and balances hidden from outside observers.

Tempo, a stablecoin payment blockchain company, has secured Deel as the first real-world customer of its privacy system Zones, according to a report by The Defiant. The payroll platform can use the system to keep from outsiders how much contractors were paid and how much they currently hold.

Under the arrangement, Deel's deposits into its Zone stay visible on the public network, while which contractor received what and holds what is not disclosed. Contractors can see only their own balance, and Deel keeps access rights for settlement and audit purposes.

Zones are available to a limited set of users, and the developer preview does not support token transfers between ordinary accounts or user-deployed smart contracts. Only fund movements through deposit and withdrawal infrastructure are supported, and forced withdrawal is not yet generally available.

Tempo first unveiled Zones in April 2026. In August 2026, Deel expanded its existing wallet to contractors in about 80 countries.
