TrendForce: DDR4 8Gb contract price rises 5.77% in October

TrendForce expects November DRAM and NAND flash prices to climb further, citing a clear supply shortage as Korean suppliers cut PC DRAM output.

TrendForce reported on October 30, 2026 that the October fixed contract price for PC DDR4 8Gb 1G*8 2133MHz general-purpose DRAM reached $27.25, up 5.77% from the previous month, according to techm.kr.

The market research firm said prices for both DRAM and NAND flash stayed strong in October, and it expects November prices to come in higher than October's because of a clear supply shortage.

TrendForce estimated that Korean suppliers will cut PC DRAM output by more than 20% year on year.

In NAND flash, the October fixed contract price for 128Gb 16G*8 MLC was $30.61, unchanged from the previous month, while SLC prices rose again in October.

TrendForce said MLC prices being very high is hurting customer profitability and making stable supply harder, pushing more customers to switch to TLC.

Earlier forecasts of tight supply

The pricing data follows record results from Samsung Electronics and SK hynix in the third quarter of 2026. On their third-quarter 2026 conference calls, both companies said memory semiconductor supply would fall short through 2028. Intel, which disclosed its third-quarter results the same day, forecast the PC market would shrink 12% year on year in 2026 and another 10% in 2027, citing product price increases from higher memory prices and weaker consumption.
