Pinkooland trailer debuts after Sitges premiere
Cartoon Brew unveiled the trailer for Luis Usón's 12-minute short, produced by Matte CG in Ecuador and Vanova in Spain.
Cartoon Brew debuted the trailer for Pinkooland, a 12-minute animated short directed by Luis Usón, after the film premiered in the official short film competition at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.
The short is produced by Ecuador's Matte CG and Spain's Vanova. Its story follows park employee Kassy, who is trapped underground when the park's bear mascots, the Pinkoos, turn destructive.
Pinkooland was conceived as a proof of concept for a feature film currently in development. Usón wrote the short with María Burgués and Omar Rabuñal Varela, and the creative team includes animation director Cécile Brossette and production designer Enric Sant.
The production used Unreal Engine for lighting, cameras, materials and environments, and Houdini for complex visual effects.
Earlier credits
Usón previously co-directed the animated short Afterwork with producer and CG supervisor Andrés Aguilar, and has done layout and previs work on major studio productions including Denis Villeneuve's Dune. Brossette's credits include The Lorax, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, while Sant came to animation after more than a decade in video games.
