Attack on Titan 3 Lands December 10, 2026, Producer Explains Seven-Year Gap
Producer Hideo Suzuki told Crunchyroll the team rebuilt the story from the start, with a new MAPPA opening directed by Arifumi Imai.
Attack on Titan 3 will launch on December 10, 2026, for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with producer Hideo Suzuki explaining in an interview with Crunchyroll why the project took seven years to make.
Suzuki described the title as essentially a reboot that retells the anime story from the beginning, starting with the attack on Eren's hometown. The game follows the series' complete narrative through the eyes of a customizable game-original character.
The team added original sub stories and events while keeping iconic scenes from the anime, including the final season, told through a different storytelling approach.
New opening and combat adjustments
Attack on Titan 3 features a new opening sequence produced by MAPPA and directed by Arifumi Imai. The game also adds a support system for story mode and some automatic combat functions aimed at less experienced players, alongside a slight increase in difficulty.
Koei Tecmo previously released Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle in 2019, an expanded edition of its Attack on Titan sequel, and the earlier two games retold arcs from Seasons 1-3 of the anime. After that release, the team initially considered covering only the newer anime seasons, but found the content volume insufficient for a 20-30 hour game.
