Ex-Krafton CGPO Jin Oh: Daily "Boring Work" Decides a Game's Lifespan
Speaking in Bangkok, Jin Oh cited League of Legends' PC bang recovery and outlined four pillars of live game operation.
Jin Oh, former Chief Global Publishing Officer of Krafton, delivered a keynote at Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2026 titled "What Makes Great Games Endure? Lessons from the World's Biggest Titles," according to Inven. The event ran from October 29 to November 1 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the talk, Jin Oh argued that a game's lifespan is decided not by new releases but by the repetitive "boring work" done every day. He laid out four pillars of live game operation: smoothness, fairness, listening and togetherness.
He pointed to League of Legends' recovery in Korean PC bang rankings as an example. Rather than promotions or discounts, the team ran weekly small PC bang tournaments. According to GameTricks data as of October 23, League of Legends held a 36.9% share and had been first for 429 weeks, while PUBG: Battlegrounds was second at 9.7%.
Jin Oh joined Krafton in September 2024 after roles at Blizzard Entertainment Korea/Southeast Asia, Riot Games and Garena. At Krafton he led overseas publishing of Subnautica 2 and inZOI, stepped back from the front line in June, and served as a strategic advisor until September.
