PC Gamer spoke to 16 developers, including the Esoteric Ebb creator, about the studio behind Baldur's Gate and Dragon Age: Origins.

Christoffer Bodegård, the developer behind Esoteric Ebb, has commented on the closure of BioWare, in remarks gathered by PC Gamer. Bodegård said the studio was fundamental to the RPG genre.

PC Gamer spoke to 16 developers who said they joined the games industry because of BioWare's games. The outlet's report centres on the reactions of developers to the studio's closure.

Bodegård's own history with BioWare's work goes back to childhood. When he was six years old, his father brought home MDK2, a BioWare-developed game, and the two played it over the course of a year.

In high school, Dragon Age: Origins sparked what the report describes as his lifelong obsession with CRPGs. Earlier this year, after the release of Esoteric Ebb, Bodegård cited Disco Elysium and Planescape: Torment as major influences on his work.

BioWare's RPG catalogue, including the Baldur's Gate series, is cited in the report as foundational to the genre. Before pivoting to games, the studio worked on medical imaging equipment.
