Bit Reactor lays off developers on Star Wars Zero Company
The studio cut an unspecified number of staff weeks after Star Wars Zero Company sold one million copies, according to PC Gamer.
Bit Reactor has laid off an unspecified number of developers working on Star Wars Zero Company, PC Gamer reported. The studio did not disclose how many staff were affected.
Several employees announced their departures on LinkedIn. Senior environment artist Ryan Lopez said he was let go after three and a half years on the project and three and a half months on furlough. UI engineer Tyler Eichten and senior QA analyst Ryan Mosher were among the others who said publicly that they had left.
Star Wars Zero Company had sold one million copies within a month of launch.
Furloughs preceded the cuts
In September 2026, it was reported that Bit Reactor had furloughed up to 80% of its staff in the weeks before the game's launch, having reportedly run out of most of its money. At the time, former senior technical artist Zachariah Scott said the project was built with "shocking austerity" and accused the studio of concealing the furloughs.
After the one-million sales milestone, Bit Reactor announced it had hired back some of its staff. CEO Greg Foertsch said on Bluesky that the furlough was a response to "unexpected business developments outside of our control".
