Bulkhead CEO Defends Crunch Comments as Wardogs Hits 3M Sales

Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer says he is "not pro crunch but pro hard work" after Wardogs sold over three million copies in 18 days.

Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer has defended his stance on crunch, saying he is "not pro crunch but pro hard work," as reported by gamesindustry.biz. The comments come after Wardogs sold more than three million copies in its first 18 days on sale.

Brammer previously said the studio would not hire people who constantly tweet anti-crunch messaging. He has now described the studio's own schedule: staff worked an extra two hours per week from Monday to Thursday over four weeks, and the studio operates a four-day week.

He also addressed the pressures of building a new IP, saying it is hard, especially with new technology. According to Brammer, Bulkhead helped make some things in Unreal Engine 5.

Bulkhead was spun out of Tencent in December 2025. Wardogs is the studio's first major release since becoming independent.
