Bungie: No Destiny Reveal at The Game Awards This Year
Bungie says it will not drop a logo for future Destiny plans at The Game Awards, as work on returning legacy Destiny 2 content moves into pre-production.
Bungie has said players should not expect a Destiny announcement at The Game Awards this year, and that the studio will not randomly drop a logo for its future Destiny plans. The studio's head of product, Josh Deane, set out the position as Bungie outlined progress on bringing legacy Destiny 2 content back into the game, according to GameSpot.
Bungie said it received an initial greenlight to begin scoping the work in June. The porting effort is now in a pre-production, proof-of-work stage that should last until roughly January or February, with full production expected to take about 12 months. An unrevealed studio will help Bungie with the Destiny legacy content revival.
The studio described Destiny Legacy as the whole experience to be served to where players are today. It also plans “anchor” events, including a new Destiny 2 celebration similar to Moments of Triumph.
To mark progress, Bungie introduced a progress bar that signals when major milestones are reached. More information is due next year, and Bungie said both announcements will feature the new progress bar in February. It also teased a mystery third project.
Ongoing work elsewhere
Bungie has been working to bring content from the Destiny vault back into Destiny 2, including reworking campaigns such as the Red War and Forsaken. Marathon launched earlier this year, and Bungie continues to make big changes to the extraction shooter; March 2027 could be make or break for it as the studio builds out connected PvE, PvP and PvEvP experiences and options for solo players and crews.
