Devil of the Plague gets final early access update, version 0.9

SoulByte Games' version 0.9 adds lobby minigames, the Occult Board and Cryptex gimmicks, throwing weapons and hiding spots.

SoulByte Games released version 0.9 of Devil of the Plague on November 6, 2026, describing it as the last major update during the game's early access period, according to gamespark.jp.

The update adds three lobby minigames: Rat Race, a competitive race; Whack-a-Rat, a scoring game in which players hit rats in a whack-a-mole style; and Dukebox, which lets players choose the background music in the lobby. Players can also practice using the lantern through a new training option.

Two new gimmicks are included. The Occult Board automatically completes one ritual but triggers three kinds of negative events, while the Cryptex is a treasure chest that opens with four clues placed around the map.

Version 0.9 also expands combat with axe throwing, bottle throwing and a crossbow as new means of fighting worsening situations, and adds hiding spots such as lockers and closets where players can evade bosses.

Door of the Afterlife

A new Door of the Afterlife appears as a blue door that lets players follow the revival process in single-player, and as a red door in multiplayer that lets players pester living allies for a time. The update further improves boss behavior, game performance, ghost effects and gamepad support.

Devil of the Plague has been in early access on Steam since May 2026, with players taking the role of plague doctors trying to purify a plague spread by the ancient demon ASAG. The early access version supports Japanese and sells for 1,199 yen, with a price increase announced ahead of the full launch. Planned content includes a fourth map.
