Path of Exile 2 1.0 adds Shadow class on December 11

Grinding Gear Games revealed at ExileCon that the Shadow joins the Duelist at launch, bringing stealth, traps and a new dagger weapon type.

Grinding Gear Games announced at the ExileCon keynote that Path of Exile 2's 1.0 release on December 11 will add two new classes, with the Shadow joining the previously announced Duelist. The studio detailed the class during the presentation, as reported by pcgamer.com.

The Shadow uses daggers and traps and introduces stealth mechanics to the game. Stealth prevents monsters from seeing the player until they are close by, has a cooldown and resets on a kill. Traps thrown while in stealth will not trigger until the player reveals themselves.

Entering stealth leaves behind a shade that blinds monsters, acts as a distraction and copies the player's melee attacks. Shadows can also use a new Darkness resource, collected from darkness-spreading skills, to buff damage when emerging from stealth.

Ascendancies and trap options

On release, Shadows can ascend as the returning Assassin or as the new Infiltrator ascendancy. The class also brings a new dagger weapon type with new skill gems and supports, and 1.0 will include eight trap types that interact with each other.

The full release also includes two new acts, a new league and endgame improvements. The Duelist had been announced previously, while the Shadow's addition had been hinted at with a cryptic teaser trailer.
