Fan-made DOOM + DLSS 5 Port Adds Neural Rendering to 1993 Classic

Developer Nikolai Zhivotenko released DOOM + DLSS 5, a 64-bit Windows DX12 port of the 1993 original built on Linux DOOM 1.10, with GPLv2 source on GitHub.

Developer Nikolai Zhivotenko has released a custom Windows port of the 1993 original DOOM that supports Nvidia DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, according to wccftech.com. The project, titled DOOM + DLSS 5, is based on Linux DOOM 1.10.

The port is a 64-bit Windows application that uses a DirectX 12 presentation path. DOOM still renders internally at 320x200 resolution, while the image is presented in a 1280x800 DX12 window.

To feed the upscaling, the modified renderer generates depth, normal, and motion data for every frame. The project offers presentation modes for DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS 4 Super Resolution using Preset K, DLSS 4.5 using Preset L, AMD FSR 2.2, Anime4K, and nearest-neighbor 4x scaling.

The GPLv2-licensed source code is available on GitHub. Users must supply their own compatible DOOM IWAD to run it.
