Driveclub Runs Natively on PC via Unofficial Community Ports
DriveClub Recomp, by OverkillLabs3, reimplements PS4 libraries and translates GPU commands to Vulkan, supporting 720p to 8K and unlocked frame rates.
Driveclub is now playable natively on Windows PC through unofficial community ports, more than a decade after its PlayStation 4 release, according to DSOGaming. The two known projects run the racing game's original files on PC rather than streaming or emulating a console.
The main effort, DriveClub Recomp, is made by OverkillLabs3. It runs the game's original x86-64 code directly on Windows without CPU emulation by reimplementing PS4 system libraries and translating GPU commands to Vulkan. The project supports resolutions from 720p to 8K, ultrawide aspect ratios, unlocked frame rates, customizable graphics settings, keyboard and gamepad input, a built-in launcher, mod support, and DLC access using the player's own game files.
DriveClub Recomp also adds Nvidia DLAA and AMD FSR 3.1 Native AA, which can be toggled in real time with the F10 key on RTX GPUs. According to the developer, the game runs at about 60 FPS at native 4K in demanding scenes on an RTX 5070 Ti paired with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Version v0.2.3 raises performance from about 62 FPS to 71 FPS in one of the developer's 4K test races, roughly a 15% gain.
A separate project, DCport, is another native Windows implementation with FSR support and high-refresh-rate gameplay. The YouTube channel Testing Games showed an unofficial PC build running at 100-120 FPS at 4K with SMAA 1X on an RTX 5090, 75-90 FPS at 1440p on an RTX 3080, and 35-40 FPS at 1080p on a GTX 1060.
DriveClub Recomp remains a work in progress, with graphical artifacts, initial shader compilation stutters and compatibility issues, and the original game's online functionality is unavailable. Both projects are available for download, but users must supply their own legally obtained game files.
Older console roots
Driveclub was developed by Evolution Studios and originally released on PlayStation 4 more than a decade ago, targeting 30 FPS.
