Faliszek rebuts Sweeney's Steam AI disclosure criticism

The former Valve developer said Epic's own Fab marketplace uses AI disclosures and rejected claims that Steamworks held gaming back.

Chet Faliszek, a former Valve developer, published a YouTube video on October 29, 2026 responding to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney's criticism of Steam, according to gamesradar.com.

In the video, Faliszek said Sweeney's arguments about Steam's AI disclosure policy address positions nobody is legitimately taking. He also pointed out that Epic's own Fab marketplace uses AI disclosures.

Faliszek further rejected Sweeney's claim that Valve has held gaming back through Steamworks' social features. He said Epic Games has an excellent set of tools, including a backend solution he considers better than Valve's.

Sweeney had previously described Steam's AI disclosure policy as a political statement forced on developers, and more recently said Valve has held gaming back for years by locking PC games into Steamworks' social walled garden. He also said Epic "vibe coded" the Epic Games Launcher to be faster than its competitors.
