STUDIO En is developing FANTASTIC JUNCTION, a chill-pop survival game scheduled to begin early access in 2027, according to 4gamer.net. All three of its modes are planned to be in place when early access opens.
The game follows a girl named Pippi, who explores planets alone to send food and resources back to her home. It is set tens of thousands of years after Earth's destruction, in a far corner of the galaxy. Players switch between Survival Mode for gathering resources, Farm Mode for growing vegetables, and Customize Mode for customizing the spaceship.
A ray gun handles exploration, gathering and survival combat; firing it consumes blue resources, while red resources restore life and grow food. The visuals are monochrome-based with accent colors, and the art is by Yuka Matsuda. Farm Mode includes a fictional vegetable that combines pumpkin, corn and beans, based on the Native American Three Sisters farming method.
The team cites space-themed classics such as Odyssey and Interstellar as influences. Three people are making the game — Yuki Aiba, Norihito Kawamura and Matsuda — building on technology from their previous title, Party Nightmare. Development began about 10 months ago, though the concept existed earlier, and the soundtrack comes from emerging artists to support the game's relaxed atmosphere.
More playable characters beyond Pippi are planned. Five unnamed characters already appear on the official site, including a fish-man holding a controller.
