Final Fantasy 14: Evercold launches February 23, 2027

Square Enix confirmed the Evercold release date at Tokyo Fan Fest, a slight delay from the planned January window, and outlined story-pacing changes.

Square Enix announced at Tokyo Fan Fest that Evercold, the next expansion for Final Fantasy 14, will release on February 23, 2027, according to Polygon. The date is a slight delay from the originally planned January release window.

Director Naoki Yoshida, known to players as Yoshi-P, said the team is putting serious consideration into the sense of tempo in Evercold. The expansion also moves a number of world-building elements out of the main scenario quest and into side quests, so players can enjoy them at their own pace afterward.

Yoshida advised players to refamiliarize themselves with the shards and the origin of how the universe was split before Evercold arrives.

The 2024 expansion Dawntrail launched as the first part of Final Fantasy 14's new arc and drew criticism for its story pacing. In an interview at Fan Fest, Yoshida said the Dawntrail main questline devoted too much time to fleshing out new lands and cultures while players wanted to keep moving forward.
