Wheel Make It Peak 15 Players After Valve Review Delay

Publisher 2 Left Thumbs says Steam's review backlog pushed past the planned launch, despite earlier assurances on visibility.

Publisher 2 Left Thumbs has publicly blamed Valve for delaying Steam approval of its co-op game Wheel Make It, which it says led to a weak launch. The game arrived on November 1 and peaked at 15 concurrent players on Steam in its first 24 hours, according to SteamDB, as reported by gamesradar.com.

In its first 24 hours the game drew 11 user reviews, 90% of which are positive. According to the publisher, Wheel Make It had accumulated more than 11,000 wishlists before release.

2 Left Thumbs said Steam had assured it that a missed launch caused by the review backlog would not affect launch visibility mechanisms. The publisher also said Valve reportedly told the developer it would not be allowed to set a new release date. The developer of Wheel Make It is tlproductions.

Steam review was not cleared first time: an October 21 developer update said the game had failed review because a menu resolution setting was not accessible with a controller. Wheel Make It was meant to launch on October 12 but was not approved by Steam until October 25.

Other developers report delays

Komi Games reported a similar hold-up, saying it submitted Infested DX for review on October 9 and received a reply from Valve on October 21 requesting a small change, with no follow-up since. On October 25, 2 Left Thumbs said it assumed Steam's review system was backed up filtering thousands of AI-generated games; on October 31, Itch.io said the number of game pages created per day had doubled in the past two months, seemingly boosted by AI.
