Final Fantasy 14 same-region matchmaking launches November 10

Square Enix says the roulette matchmaking change follows a trial period on the game's Japanese servers.

Square Enix has announced that same-region player matchmaking in Final Fantasy 14 will be available starting November 10. The feature follows a trial period on the game's Japanese servers, according to pcgamer.com.

Once the change takes effect, matchmaking for roulettes will be possible within the same physical data center. Party finder, cross-world linkshells, fellowships, the friend list and /tell functionality will also work across logical data centers that sit within a physical data center.

Square Enix also said travelling between data centers will be made easier.

How the server setup works

Final Fantasy 14's servers are split into physical data centers covering Japan, Europe, Oceania and North America, and then into logical data centers such as Crystal, Aether, Dynamis and Primal on North America. Players have been able to move manually between logical data centers for some time, but must log out to do so.
