GOG Galaxy to get 2027 revamp and Linux release, plus GOG Social
GOG says the redesigned client arrives in 2027 with offline installers still available, and beta sign-ups for both Galaxy and GOG Social are open now.
GOG announced at its first GOG Showcase on November 5, 2026, that GOG Galaxy will be revamped in 2027 and released for Linux, alongside a new community feature called GOG Social. Sign-ups for the betas of both are open on GOG's site, according to pcgamer.com.
The company said the Galaxy client has been reworked on Windows and Mac to be simpler and faster. GOG added that Galaxy will remain entirely optional, with games still downloadable through offline installers.
GOG Social is described as a space for game discussion, with screenshot galleries, videos and community polls.
Older client never left beta
GOG Galaxy 2.0 never left beta and generally ran poorly compared with Steam, a history that sits behind the announced rework.
