GTA 6 PS5 Boxes With Download Codes Spotted in Stores
Retail boxes for the PlayStation 5 edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 carry a code instead of a disc and warn that an internet connection is required.
Retail boxes for the PlayStation 5 version of Grand Theft Auto 6 have started appearing in stores ahead of their sale date of November 12, according to photos shared on the GTA6unmoderrated subreddit and reportedly taken by a German retail worker.
The shrink-wrapped box carries a warning label stating that no disc is inside and that an internet connection is required to redeem the included digital download code.
Grand Theft Auto 6 preloading begins on November 10, with physical copies distributed from November 12 to customers who pre-ordered. The game goes live on North American servers on November 19.
The packaging follows publisher parent company Take-Two Interactive's decision not to release Grand Theft Auto 6 on a physical disc. Console maker Sony has separately said it plans a disc-less future starting in 2028.
