Infinity Ward Nerfs Possum Perk in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ

Infinity Ward's new patch rules block players from using the Possum perk while the squad that downed them stays nearby, or until 4 minutes pass.

Infinity Ward released patch notes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 29, 2026, changing how the Possum perk works in the game's DMZ mode. The perk lets a downed player play dead and later get back up.

Under the new rules, players can no longer activate Possum while the team that downed them is nearby or lingering in the area, and they cannot use it until 4 minutes have passed. According to gamesradar.com, the studio said the perk was being used as a combat mechanic instead of a survival mechanic.

Infinity Ward said the tweaks are meant to stop players from returning immediately to a fight they had just lost.

The developer added that it will monitor Possum usage after the change and may adjust the range and duration again.
