Path of Exile 2 gets death recap at 1.0 launch on December 11

Grinding Gear Games confirmed the feature during the ExileCon keynote, though damage-over-time tracking still needs work.

Path of Exile 2 will ship with a death recap feature when its full 1.0 release arrives on December 11, Grinding Gear Games confirmed during the ExileCon keynote, as reported by pcgamer.com. The announcement came after a death recap screen appeared in a live demo of new content, when the character played by developer Mark Roberts died on stage.

Game director Jonathan Rogers confirmed the feature will be present at launch. He said the recap is designed to show players the damage they took and how much of it was mitigated, pointing them toward what to fix on their character.

Rogers was direct about one limitation: damage over time tracking is "not quite good," in his words, because the screen tells players they took damage without showing where it came from.

He added that the recap should let players complain about the correct things — for example, a monster whose balance values are wrong, rather than guessing at what killed them.

Roberts said he expects Path of Exile 1 players to request the feature en masse, and that it would be ported over to the original game if that happens. Path of Exile 2 has been in early access ahead of the 1.0 release.
