S-Game's Liang says Phantom Blade Zero grew out of student RPG Maker game

S-Game canceled its other projects and kept expanding Phantom Blade Zero's production scale, according to a message from CEO Soulframe Liang.

S-Game CEO and creative director Soulframe Liang has published a message to fans stating that Phantom Blade Zero is the spiritual successor to Rainblood: Town of Death, the RPG Maker game he made as a student, according to gamesradar.com. The message was released ahead of the game's launch.

Liang said S-Game canceled its other projects and continued to expand the production scale of Phantom Blade Zero.

The studio head has previously described Phantom Blade Zero as a spiritual rebirth of Rainblood. Both games are set in the Phantom World fantasy setting.

The original Rainblood: Town of Death is still on sale for $7 on GamersGate. Liang completed the game as a hobby project made in RPG Maker while studying abroad, roughly 20 years before the gamesradar.com article.
