Phantom Blade Zero released for wuxia action RPG fans
S-GAME's kung fu punk action RPG Phantom Blade Zero is out October 29, 2026, following protagonist Soul through 66 remaining days of life.
S-GAME released its wuxia fantasy action RPG Phantom Blade Zero on October 29, 2026, according to gamespark.jp. The game is built around what the studio calls a "kung fu punk" style that blends traditional Chinese martial arts with steampunk and dark fantasy.
The story follows the protagonist Soul, who has only 66 days left to live and must move through a conspiracy-filled martial arts world within that time.
S-GAME founder and game director Soulframe has said the aim is a modern action experience rooted in wuxia tradition. The design is structured so that players who understand enemy gimmicks and the story, and who choose effective weapons and attacks, can defeat bosses.
Part of a wider wave of Chinese action games
The release follows other Chinese action titles in recent years. In 2024, Game Science released Black Myth: Wukong, an action RPG based on the classic novel Journey to the West, while Naraka: Bladepoint, a melee-focused battle royale for up to 60 players, launched in 2021. The Sword and Fairy RPG series, which began in 1995, moved its combat to real-time action with its seventh entry.
Other recent and upcoming titles in the same space include Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, AI LIMIT, Bloody Spell and Lost Soul Aside, alongside Tides of Annihilation.
