PlayStation Store Adds 'PlayStation Exclusive' Label to Some PS5 Games
Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition and Until Dawn 2 carry the new tag, while Saros and Marvel's Wolverine do not, according to gamerant.com.
A new "PlayStation Exclusive" branding label has begun appearing on PlayStation Store pages for some titles, including Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition and Until Dawn 2, according to gamerant.com. The label places PlayStation button symbols on the left and an asterisk at the end of the script.
The tag is not applied uniformly. Saros and Marvel's Wolverine currently display no label, and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is also without the tag. Phantom Blade Zero and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls lack it because they are also available on Steam, where they are sold alongside their PS5 versions.
The meaning of the asterisk in the branding has not been explained. Sony has also not said whether the label will be applied retroactively to PS5-exclusive titles already on sale.
The change follows Sony's earlier decision to stop making PC ports of single-player PlayStation titles, a move the company attributed to low PC port sales. Multiplayer games such as Helldivers 2 will continue to receive multiplatform support.
Sony previously used the "Only on PlayStation" tagline on PS3 and PS4 banners, including on third-party titles. Several games that first launched on PlayStation consoles have since been ported to Steam and Xbox.
