Romero Games' new FPS finds publisher after Xbox exit

John Romero says the studio has re-hired 10 laid-off leads and is rebuilding the game for a smaller team, but he cannot name the new publisher.

John Romero has confirmed that Romero Games' new first-person shooter has secured a new publisher after Xbox dropped the project, according to gamesradar.com. The designer also said the studio has re-hired 10 people who were leads of its various sub-teams.

The studio's team had fallen from 110 people to five at one point. Romero said the Xbox decision came more than a year before this update.

The game is now being completely redesigned and scoped for a smaller team, reusing art and weapons from the earlier version. Romero did not name the new publisher, describing it as having no creative demands.

Romero Games has not announced a release date or platforms for the project.
