Digital Extremes will open Soulframe to all Windows PC players on November 7, 2026, when the free alpha version known as Soulframe Open Prelude becomes available for download from the game's official website. The Open Prelude is limited to Windows PC; Soulframe itself remains in development for PC and consoles, and Steam wishlisting is open. Players who want to support development can buy a Founder Pack, which grants exclusive oaths and equipment.
Verse of the Veilands adds mounts and a new pact
The next update, Soulframe Preludes 17, is titled Verse of the Veilands and is scheduled to launch during November 2026. Clearing the story quest unlocks the new Veilands progression system, which lets players travel the Alca overworld and see Ode corruption.
In Preludes 17 players can ride mounts, growing a trained cub into the Omen Wolf by obtaining a recipe and feeding it a Baernday Biscuit after purifying two Veilands regions. Players who prefer can keep the animal as a cub instead of growing it. The update also introduces the Ode Shrike pact, which uses deployable spike traps, balloon darts that lift enemies, bola chains that link damage between enemies, and throwing bombs for evasion.
