Daffy Season, Bauza's Final Looney Tunes Role, Plays Before The Cat in the Hat
The 7-minute short, the first theatrical Looney Tunes cartoon since 2012, opens Friday alongside Skydance's Warner Bros. Pictures release.
The animated short Daffy Season, which a studio representative confirmed to IndieWire is Eric Bauza's final Looney Tunes movie, is playing in theaters ahead of screenings of The Cat in the Hat. The feature opens Friday, November 7, 2026, from Skydance's Warner Bros. Pictures.
Daffy Season runs 7 minutes and centers on Daffy Duck, voiced by Bauza. Jeff Bergman voices Bugs Bunny, Gabriel Iglesias voices Speedy Gonzales and Jeannie Tirado voices Lola Bunny. Todd Wilderman and Hamish Grieve co-directed the short.
It is the first theatrically released Looney Tunes short since Daffy's Rhapsody in 2012, which played before Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Bauza is also credited with additional voices in The Cat in the Hat.
Bauza died in October 2026 at his home in Los Angeles at age 46 from hypertensive cardiovascular disease. His Looney Tunes credits include the HBO Max series Looney Tunes Cartoons, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie and Space Jam: A New Legacy.
A rough run for Looney Tunes features
In October 2026, Warner Bros. Discovery sold Coyote vs. Acme to Ketchup Entertainment after delaying the film; it went on to gross $101 million worldwide. Bye Bye Bunny, a Looney Tunes musical feature Bauza worked on, was canceled after years of development.
