Dirty Towel Wraps Filming as Short Becomes Feature
Emma Parks and Kristen Connolly lead the cast of the coming-of-age film, directed by Callie Carpinteri in her feature debut.
Filming has wrapped on Dirty Towel, the feature-length expansion of the short film of the same name, Deadline reported. Emma Parks leads the cast alongside Kristen Connolly, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Conor Sherry, Sandrine Holt and Lesley Ann Warren.
The film is co-written and produced by Callie Carpinteri and Emma Parks, and marks Carpinteri's feature directorial debut. Set in the weeks before high school graduation, the story follows Charlie (Parks) and her mother Elizabeth.
The feature was shot in the Chicago area with a crew more than 77% women, including an all-female above-the-line team. Stacey Rice of Chrystie Street Casting served as casting director, with Pascal Rudnicke Casting handling local Chicago casting.
Cassidy Campbell served as an additional producer, and Pitt Entertainment Law provided production counsel.
From Tribeca short to feature
The original Dirty Towel proof-of-concept short premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Festival. It went on to screen at more than 25 festivals worldwide, won multiple awards and has accrued more than 1.4 million views on YouTube.
