Disney Animation Says Princess & the Frog Special in Active Production
Walt Disney Animation Studios CCO Jared Bush says the Disney+ special is a full story that will bring back the original cast with new songs.
Walt Disney Animation Studios is in active production on an animated special set in the world of The Princess & the Frog for Disney+, the studio's chief creative officer Jared Bush said. Bush told Gizmodo the studio is "really moving" on the project.
He described the special as a "full story" that would bring back the original cast and give them new songs.
Bush added that other projects in "similar veins" exist beyond this special.
In summer 2026, it was reported that actor Colman Domingo is aiming to do something with The Princess & the Frog in live-action.
Disney had previously announced an animated series starring Tiana set after the 2009 film, but that project was eventually canceled after a troubled production.
