Marvel's Mephisto Forms New Sinister Six From Dead Characters

The roster in Avengers Volume 10 includes Sabretooth, Abomination, Kraven the Hunter and Carnage, all summoned from the afterlife.

Marvel has announced that Mephisto has assembled his own Sinister Six in the newly launched Avengers Volume 10, according to screenrant.com. The team is made up of dead characters who struck deals with Mephisto and were summoned back from the afterlife.

Sabretooth appears on Marco Checchetto's cover for The Avengers #4 and may serve as the team's field leader, while Abomination is described as its powerhouse, with base strength higher than the Hulk's. Kraven the Hunter is the only member carried over from the original Sinister Six lineup, and Carnage is listed as part of the group with an identity that remains unknown.

The new roster draws on several recent storylines. In Captain America, Mephisto was overthrown as Hell's leader by Doctor Doom, and in Captain America #16 Doom cancelled all of Mephisto's past contracts, setting off what were described as "angels" reversing the effects of his deals. The 2025 Bring on the Bad Guys series also revealed that villains including Abomination and the Green Goblin had made deals with Mephisto.

Each of the returning figures died in earlier stories: Sabretooth was killed in 2024's Wolverine Volume 7 #50 at the end of the "Sabretooth War" arc, Abomination died in 2008's Hulk Volume 2 #1 at the hands of Red Hulk, and Kraven died in 2019's Amazing Spider-Man Volume 5 #22, later replaced by his clone son.

The Sinister Six first appeared in 1964, when Doctor Octopus united Electro, Mysterio, Sandman, Vulture and Kraven the Hunter.
