Yamazaki Puts Third Godzilla Film at 'Fifty-Fifty'
The Godzilla Minus One director says he would love to return to the franchise, but his next project is the J.J. Abrams-produced Grandgear.
Takashi Yamazaki said the chances of him making a third Godzilla movie are about fifty-fifty at this point, in a new interview. The director also said he would love to return to the Godzilla world at some point in his career.
His next project is Grandgear, an English-language mecha movie produced by J.J. Abrams. That film takes priority before any decision on another Godzilla instalment.
Godzilla Minus Zero, Yamazaki's latest Godzilla film, is about to open in North America.
Yamazaki previously directed Godzilla Minus One, which won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. After that win, Hollywood offers came in, but he turned them down to make Godzilla Minus Zero first, and he said at the time that he had a story and a theme he wanted to explore in a second Godzilla movie.
