Canon Korea opens EOS R8 Mark II pop-up in Seochon until November 1

The Canon Photo Hanbangdang store in Jongno-gu lets visitors shoot, print and collect stamps, with a rooftop zone for super-telephoto lenses.

Canon Korea opened a pop-up store called Canon Photo Hanbangdang in Seochon, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on October 23, 2026. The store runs until November 1 and is built around the full-frame mirrorless EOS R8 Mark II and Canon's RF lenses, according to ZDNet Korea.

The venue, named Youthquake, comprises buildings A, B and C, with buildings A and B decorated to resemble a Korean medicine clinic. Visitors receive a questionnaire-style leaflet and collect stamps as they move through the programs. Pre-bookings closed in the week before opening, and weekend entry lines are expected.

On the second floor of building B, games explain lens characteristics, including an eyesight test and a reflexes test using wide-angle, fisheye, standard and telephoto lenses. Canon sorts photography preferences into four types: landscape, fleeting-moment, object and portrait. A heritage display shows earlier Canon digital cameras, among them the EOS D30 (2000), the EOS 300D (2003) and the EOS 5D series.

The rooftop offers views near Gyeongbokgung Palace and 400mm-plus super-telephoto lenses; cameras there will be moved indoors in case of rain. At the third-floor "photo herbal decoction" area, visitors can print one of their photos on a photo printer and take it home. Collected stamps can be exchanged for a prize draw with souvenirs such as lens cloths, constitution cards and fan stickers.

Canon Korea will also run a paid photo-walk program with photographers around Seochon, Gwanghwamun and Buam-dong. The company began domestic sales of the EOS R8 Mark II on October 20, 2026. Its last large-scale pop-up was in May 2013, in Garosu-gil, themed on the EOS 100D, PowerShot N and Selphy CP900 — 13 and a half years earlier. Canon says the new camera's design reinterprets past film models such as the T80 (1985) and EOS 650 (1987).
