CXMT verifies 4F² DRAM platform, plans DDR5 RDIMM samples by year-end
The Chinese chipmaker said engineering samples of its 6th-generation DRAM process met core performance targets on actual wafers, with customer samples due by the end of 2026.
CXMT said on October 30, 2026, that it completed engineering sample verification of its 6th-generation DRAM process platform applying the 4F² structure, according to inews24.com. The company said the verification confirmed the platform met its core performance targets on actual wafers.
CXMT described the disclosure as the first public progress report of its kind on 4F². The company plans to send samples of its first 4F² server memory product, DDR5 RDIMM, to customers by the end of this year, and aims to bring a 4F² product to market first in the world if development proceeds as planned. Mass production will be pursued gradually depending on customer verification and market demand.
At an event last month, CXMT's president said the company would release a 4F²-based DDR5 RDIMM by year-end, a remark that was interpreted as a cause of a drop in global semiconductor stocks. In its recent earnings presentation, SK hynix said it would keep using its proven 6F² platform as long as possible while also developing technology for the 4F² transition.
In October 2025, CXMT reported third-quarter revenue of 118.7 billion yuan, up 613% year on year, with quarter-on-quarter growth slowing to 19.3% from over 90% in the second quarter. Its January-September revenue totaled 269 billion yuan, up 738.5% year on year, and net profit swung to 132 billion yuan from a 5.28 billion yuan loss a year earlier. R&D spending for the same period was 11 billion yuan, up 73% year on year.
In July 2025, CXMT raised up to 66.61 billion yuan in an IPO and became the most valuable company on mainland Chinese exchanges on its first trading day. In August 2025, it began mass production of next-generation mobile DRAM LPDDR6, and last month it said it had entered mass production of a 5th-generation DRAM process.
