Modders pull DLSS 5 build from NBA 2K27, see up to 90% gains

The extracted 310.9.16.0 Neural Rendering build was tested on unsupported games, with the new model also reported 24% smaller.

Modders have extracted the new DLSS Neural Rendering build 310.9.16.0 from DLSS 5 in NBA 2K27 and run it on games that do not officially support it, according to Tom's Hardware. Tests of the new model against the older one showed gains of up to 90% in The Witcher 3 when the game ran DLSS 5 natively.

The comparison was posted by the Gaming Optimized account on X. The modder Renan Maniero is credited with extracting the build, and Valery Kryzhanovsky is known for earlier DLSS 5 experiments.

The new DLL carries two Neural Rendering presets: Preset A runs the old model and Preset B runs the new one. Nvidia says the new model processes its neural rendering workload up to 2x faster.

Smaller model, less VRAM

Nvidia made the new Neural Rendering model 24% smaller, and it uses 20% less VRAM at 4K. DLSS can be injected into games through RenoDX or OptiScaler to adjust DLL settings.

The modding community also modified the runtime to support RTX 20-series GPUs, as noted in the OptiScaler GitHub README. Nvidia plans to release DLSS 5 for RTX 40-series cards, and there are no reports of official support for RTX 30- or 20-series GPUs.
