EDP Renewables starts 250 MW Arkansas solar plant for Meta
Construction began November 4, 2026, on Cypress Knee Solar in Chicot County, Arkansas, which will supply Meta under a long-term power purchase agreement.
Construction began on November 4, 2026, on the Cypress Knee Solar project in Chicot County in southeastern Arkansas, EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) said. The 250 MW plant is scheduled for completion in 2028 and will supply power to Meta under a long-term power purchase agreement, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.
EDPR NA expects the project to support up to several hundred jobs during construction and to generate about $25 million in tax revenue for Chicot County over its operating life.
The two companies signed the long-term power purchase agreement for the plant in May 2026. Cypress Knee Solar is their third clean energy contract, bringing their cumulative contracted capacity to 545 MW.
Meta has set a goal of offsetting 100% of its annual electricity use with renewable generation, while also supporting natural gas plant development to meet rising demand.
EDPR NA said it has already donated more than $77,000 to local groups, including a greenhouse restoration and robotics team at Lakeside high school and the Lake Village food bank.
