Fortinet launches inline AI security service for FortiGate firewalls
The FortiGuard Inline AI Security Service runs through Fortinet Cloud on existing FortiGate firewalls, with added token controls and cost limits in FortiAI Gate.
Fortinet has launched the FortiGuard Inline AI Security Service for its FortiGate firewalls, the company said on October 26, 2026. The service is delivered through Fortinet Cloud to firewalls customers already have.
According to digitaltoday.co.kr, the service lets existing customers inspect prompts sent to large language models, agents and Model Context Protocol tools in real time, without building a separate AI security stack. Sensitive information in transit is masked.
Fortinet also enhanced its FortiAI Gate AI gateway. The product can block prompts designed to consume large numbers of tokens before those tokens are used, and it can route requests to an appropriate model based on content, policy and cost criteria.
Administrators can set cost limits per team or per user.
Background
In August 2026, Fortinet acquired AI security startup Lacework and applied its technology to FortiAI Gate guardrails.
