GitHub to add Git features and APIs for AI agents in Q1

CTO Vlad Fedorov said GitHub will also strengthen AI-based code review, combining stacked pull requests with Copilot code review.

GitHub will add Git features and APIs suited to AI agents in the first quarter of next year and strengthen AI-based code review, the company's CTO Vlad Fedorov said in an interview with ZDNet Korea at GitHub Universe 26 in San Francisco.

The API work targets a specific problem: instead of having agents repeatedly poll for changes, GitHub will improve an API so the system notifies agents when a code change happens.

GitHub also plans to improve partial checkout, which loads only the code needed for a task into the working space, according to Fedorov.

On review, GitHub is combining stacked pull requests with Copilot code review to help developers prioritize error-prone code.

Fedorov said GitHub does not merge or submit code without human review in its own development.

Scalability work shown at Universe 26
