South Jeolla agency warns of possible data leak after backup breach

The institution posted a notice on November 6 citing the APO backup service incident; whether personal data was actually leaked is still unconfirmed.

An institution identified in its notice as 전남정보문화산업진흥원 (JCIA) published a notice titled "개인정보 유출 가능성 및 침해사고 안내" on its official website on November 6, warning of possible personal data leakage linked to the APO backup service breach at 더존비즈온.

The notice appeared as leak warnings were being issued at multiple institutions and companies following the APO backup service incident, according to dailysecu.com.

In its own notice on the APO backup server, 더존비즈온 said signs of unauthorized external intrusion were found during an inspection of the backup solution server, and that some encrypted data stored there was taken out as a result. The company said all data on the backup server was stored in a strongly encrypted state and that no evidence was found that the decryption key had leaked.

더존비즈온 said it shut down the server and blocked external IP access immediately after detecting the breach, and reported the matter to 한국인터넷진흥원 (KISA). Whether personal data was actually leaked has not been confirmed.

The company advised users not to click links in suspicious text messages and emails, and recommended changing passwords and checking accounts for abnormal transactions.
