KT targets 1GW of AI data center capacity by 2031
The Korean telecom operator also unveiled Token Factory, a platform that links 73 AI models, as part of a four-part AI strategy.
KT has set a target of securing 1GW-scale AI data center capacity by 2031, the company said, as part of a four-part AI strategy presented to the market. The plan was reported by techm.kr.
The four strategies cover data center construction, operational efficiency, AI model selection and cost reduction, according to the company.
At the center of the model strategy is a platform called Token Factory, which KT says connects 73 AI models. The company positions the tool around giving customers a choice of models rather than tying them to a single option.
KT is one of Korea's three major telecom operators. Rival carriers SK Telecom and LG Uplus have also been making large-scale infrastructure investments as competition in AI data centers among the three intensifies.
