LG Display, Chinese Partner Reportedly Investing 1B Yuan in Large OLED
The upgrade is said to target production of large-size OLED modules, with a 111-inch panel highlighted as a major potential outcome.
LG Display and Guangzhou Development Zone Holding Group are reportedly investing an additional 1 billion yuan to upgrade production facilities for large OLED displays, according to a report by FlatpanelsHD.
The upgrade targets large-size OLED module manufacturing covering 77-inch, 83-inch, 97-inch and 111-inch products, according to market analysis company TrendForce. TrendForce described the possibility of a 111-inch panel as a major highlight of the project.
LG currently lists its 97-inch OLED TV at $19,999, reduced from $24,999, and at £15,999 in the UK. That 97-inch panel has a native 4K resolution and a native refresh rate of 120Hz.
In October 2025, background context noted that LG’s OLED TVs topped out at 97 inches. The 97-inch panel used in LG’s 2026 G6 is a non-Tandem panel dating back to the LG G2 from 2022, while smaller models receive the Primary RGB Tandem 2.0 panel.
For comparison, a high-quality 98-inch Hisense TV can be bought for $3,999.
